Darryl Campbell jr., ccm

Darryl Campbell Jr. began his career within the Louisiana Department of Corrections in 1992 as a classification officer. As a classification officer he initially worked with reception and transitioning the inmates into administrative segregation or lockdown.

In 1996, Darryl was promoted to a supervisory role within classification with an emphasis on inmates participating in IMPACT Program (based on a military model). In his role Darryl transitioned the program participants from the boot camp phase of the program on to a treatment phase within the program.

December of 2005, Darryl’s journey continued with yet another promotion to executive management officer where he assumed responsibility for institutional policy and procedures along with facility accreditation.

In 2011, Darryl was promoted to a DOC Headquarters position where he was administrator of the sex offender assessment panel, support for media-related projects as well as judicial liaison for video court appearances.

Fast forwarding five years to 2016 Darryl was promoted to Assistant Warden for Administration at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center. In this role Darryl managed the facilities $106 million annual budget.

Shortly after his promotion to Assistant Warden for Administration Darryl was promoted to the position of Deputy Warden. In his Deputy Warden role he manages Assistant Warden for Programming, Religious Programs, Educational Programs, Industry Based Programs and all inmate programming.

Through this climb Deputy Warden Campbell has maintained certification as Certified Corrections Manager, served as Vice-President of the Louisiana Correctional Association and in 2021 was elected President of LCA. Darryl is a member of Southern States Correctional Association and the North American Association of Wardens & Superintendents. 

Darryl is a board member for Keep Louisiana Beautiful and a committed and passionate facilitator for the Victim Inmate Dialogue program.
