LCA COMMITTEES

NOMINATING COMMITTEE

This Committee is responsible for the slating and selection of members for elective office in accordance with the procedures outlined in the By-Laws of the Association. 

SCHOLARSHIP SCREENING COMMITTEE

 The Scholarship Committee will accept applications from members for scholarship opportunities that provide training, networking and professional development opportunities to the membership. The Scholarship Committee will meet quarterly to review applications and develop recommendation of action for the Board’s review and approval. 

TRAINING / CONFERENCE COMMITTEE

This Committee shall coordinate and report on training opportunities available to members, training offered by members of the Association and participating agencies, and may be instrumental in recruiting and securing presenters for training opportunities.

 

The training/conference committee will appoint a Conference Chair who will work with committee members and volunteers to plan the conference’s educational content. This committee will also choose the conference theme, speakers and session topics, as well as plan all social and entertainment events related to the conference. 


Potential members should be able to make a substantial commitment as the annual conference is one of our primary member services and one of our largest sources of revenue. The conference dates will be determined by the Board.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

This committee shall be chaired by the Treasurer of the Association and consist of other members as deemed appropriate, but must include the President. The committee will be responsible for the development of an annual budget based on input from officers and Committees of the Association, to be submitted to the Board for approval prior to presentation to the membership at the annual meeting each year.  The Committee shall also develop for Board approval, revenue generating ideas for the Association. 

ARCHIVES COMMITTEE

This committee shall maintain ongoing records related to the history of the Association, including but not limited to:

  • Presidents of the Association; 
  • Locations of Conferences sponsored by the Association; 
  • Recipients of Awards from the Association; 

MEDIA COMMITTEE

This committee is responsible for enhancing the image of the Association and communicating items of importance to the Association by doing the following: 

  • Maintain a current list of media outlets throughout the State to include both print and electronic media. 
  • Where possible, establish and maintain a working relationship with representatives/correspondents from statewide media outlets, both print and electronic. 
  • Develop for Board or Executive Committee (dependent on nature of topic) press releases on issues of importance to the Association, and distribute same appropriately, once approved. 
  • Maintain committee records to be passed along to next committee chair
  • Attend all Board Meetings. 
  • Maintain web site and domain name as well as solicit/update web site material to remain relevant to LCA members and visitors. 
  • Prepare a newsletter for the membership, receiving and editing newsworthy items from the membership and Board; develop a standard format for the newsletter to include a photo and “message from the President”, updates from all committees and officers, and other articles relevant to members (programs, special awards, etc.)
